The Book of Psalms Psalm 69

Douay-Rheims · Challoner revision

Challoner’s heading

Deus in adjutorium.

Psalm 69 in the Vulgate numbering this edition follows; Psalm 70 in the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles.

1Unto the end, a psalm for David, to bring to remembrance that the Lord saved him. 2O God, come to my assistance; O Lord, make haste to help me. 3Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek my soul: 4Let them be turned backward, and blush for shame that desire evils to me: Let them be presently turned away blushing for shame that say to me: 'Tis well, 'tis well. 5Let all that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; and let such as love thy salvation say always: The Lord be magnified. 6But I am needy and poor; O God, help me. Thou art my helper and my deliverer: O lord, make no delay.
Psalm 69 of 150

Text: the Douay-Rheims Bible in Bishop Challoner’s revision, public domain, from Project Gutenberg ebook 8300, set unaltered — 150 psalms and 2,528 verses, checked for gaps. Challoner’s own notes are left out, as in the gospels; the summary at the head of each psalm is his and is labelled as his. Psalms are numbered as in the Latin Vulgate, which differs by one from the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles for most of the book; each psalm gives both.
