The Book of Psalms Psalm 122

Douay-Rheims · Challoner revision

Challoner’s heading

Ad te levavi.

Psalm 122 in the Vulgate numbering this edition follows; Psalm 123 in the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles.

1To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven. 2Behold as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us. 3Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt. 4For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.
Psalm 122 of 150

Text: the Douay-Rheims Bible in Bishop Challoner’s revision, public domain, from Project Gutenberg ebook 8300, set unaltered — 150 psalms and 2,528 verses, checked for gaps. Challoner’s own notes are left out, as in the gospels; the summary at the head of each psalm is his and is labelled as his. Psalms are numbered as in the Latin Vulgate, which differs by one from the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles for most of the book; each psalm gives both.
