The Book of Psalms Psalm 109

Douay-Rheims · Challoner revision

Challoner’s heading

Dixit Dominus.

Psalm 109 in the Vulgate numbering this edition follows; Psalm 110 in the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles.

1A psalm for David. The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool. 2The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies. 3With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: from the womb before the day star I begot thee. 4The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech. 5The Lord at thy right hand hath broken kings in the day of his wrath. 6He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins: he shall crush the heads in the land of many. 7He shall drink of the torrent in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
Psalm 109 of 150

Text: the Douay-Rheims Bible in Bishop Challoner’s revision, public domain, from Project Gutenberg ebook 8300, set unaltered — 150 psalms and 2,528 verses, checked for gaps. Challoner’s own notes are left out, as in the gospels; the summary at the head of each psalm is his and is labelled as his. Psalms are numbered as in the Latin Vulgate, which differs by one from the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles for most of the book; each psalm gives both.
