The Book of Psalms Psalm 147

Douay-Rheims · Challoner revision

Challoner’s heading

Lauda, Jerusalem.

Psalm 147 in the Vulgate numbering this edition follows; Psalm 147, verses 12–20 in the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles.

12Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Sion. 13Because he hath strengthened the bolts of thy gates, he hath blessed thy children within thee. 14Who hath placed peace in thy borders: and filleth thee with the fat of corn. 15Who sendeth forth his speech to the earth: his word runneth swiftly. 16Who giveth snow like wool: scattereth mists like ashes. 17He sendeth his crystal like morsels: who shall stand before the face of his cold? 18He shall send out his word, and shall melt them: his wind shall blow, and the waters shall run. 19Who declareth his word to Jacob: his justices and his judgments to Israel. 20He hath not done in like manner to every nation: and his judgments he hath not made manifest to them. Alleluia.
Psalm 147 of 150

Text: the Douay-Rheims Bible in Bishop Challoner’s revision, public domain, from Project Gutenberg ebook 8300, set unaltered — 150 psalms and 2,528 verses, checked for gaps. Challoner’s own notes are left out, as in the gospels; the summary at the head of each psalm is his and is labelled as his. Psalms are numbered as in the Latin Vulgate, which differs by one from the Hebrew numbering of most modern Bibles for most of the book; each psalm gives both.
