Text: Thucydides, The Peloponnesian War — Richard Crawley’s translation, 1874, public domain, from Project Gutenberg ebook 7142, set unaltered. Crawley divides each book into titled chapters rather than numbering the Greek sections, and those titles are his. All eight books, 25 of the 26 chapters the contents lists; the text runs to 199,000 words and stops where Thucydides stopped, in the middle of the twenty-first year.
